Custom Fitted Mouthguards
Custom mouthguards are made on an individual basis by dental technicians, following precise instructions from your dentist. After taking an impression of your teeth, a specializsed material is used to mold the mouthguard over the model. This ensures optimal protection for your teeth while simultaneously offering enhanced comfort, given that the shield is uniquely designed for your specific mouth and teeth.
Custom-made mouthguards offer many benefits over pre-formed mouthguards you can by online or off the shelf. These mouthguards may be less precise compared to those provided by an orthodontist, resulting in potential discomfort and awkward fits. Additionally, they might be more prone to brittleness and damage due to the heating and cooling process used to fit them. For optimal teeth protection, it is recommended to discuss your options with your dentist.

How Do I Care For My Mouthguard?
Clean your mouthguard after each use using a soft toothbrush and toothpaste.
Store it in its protective case when not in use.
Avoid exposing the mouthguard to very hot water or direct sunlight, as this can cause melting and deformation due to its plastic composition.
Regularly replace your mouthguard not only for hygiene purposes but also to accommodate natural changes in your teeth alignment. While a robust mouthguard can last for years, its lifespan depends on proper care and protection from impacts during sports activities. Typically, a mouthguard lasts around six months to a year on average. If your teeth are still shifting or emerging, consider replacing your mouthguard more frequently to ensure a proper fit.
